Guardians was founded by Martin Jenkins, a seasoned working dog handler with extensive experience in explosive detection. Over the years, Martin has spent much of his career working in life-and-death situations. His experience in high-risk environments has sharpened his skills in handling and training dogs to perform critical tasks. Martin, his training methods, and his dogs have been trusted with the lives of many, both in the military and the civilian sector. You may have even attended an event where Martin and his dog were asked to conduct explosive detection services.
After becoming a father, Martin realized that putting himself in daily life-threatening situations was no longer sustainable. It was then that he founded Guardians, naming the company in honor of the “Guardians of the Night” (Military Working Dog Handlers). Now, Martin offers you the unique opportunity to learn from a world-class dog trainer who will guide you and your dog every step of the way, ensuring that you both build a strong, reliable partnership.
Martin’s training method begins with a heavy emphasis on basic obedience, as the fundamentals are the foundation for everything. He does not use e-collars or harnesses and believes that the best tools for training are simply a leash and a collar. Martin employs a rapport-based training approach, making the process enjoyable and engaging for both the dog and the owner. His focus is on building a strong, respectful relationship where the dog is motivated to work for your love and affection. Nothing is wasted in his training methods, often accomplishing one task while simultaneously laying the groundwork for more advanced training down the road. Through his methods, Martin ensures that every training session is not just about obedience, but about building a lasting bond and creating a dog that works willingly and confidently by your side
Adopting a dog gives them a second chance at a loving home and helps reduce shelter overpopulation. It’s a rewarding experience, as adopted dogs often show deep gratitude for their new life
